Kendrick Lamar's debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d. city has inspired a new class at Georgia Regents University.

HipHopDX.com reports that this semester the university has launched a new English composition class called "Good Kid, Mad Cities."  Apart from Kendrick's album, students will also study and dissect other works about young people coming of age.

The books on the syllabus are James Joyce's A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Gwendolyn Brooks' Selected Poems and James Baldwin's Going to Meet the Man.  The class will also take a look at the film Boyz N The Hood.

The creator of the class, Adam Diehl, says he decided to model the class after "Good Kid" because he believes "Kendrick Lamar is the James Joyce of hip-hop."
