Tampa Bay, this news couldn't have come at the WORST time, and I don't like reporting negativity; but Jesse Jackson Jr. has reached  a plea deal with authorities stemming from an FBI  probe brought on by allegations that he misused official  funds. The former congressman reportedly signed the paperwork within the  last several days, but authorities have yet to confirm the news.

Sources close the situation revealed that the plea deal includes information  as to whether or not Jackson's wife, Alderman Sandi Jackson,  will also face charges.

Even with the agreement, Jackson could still be sent to prison, which a judge  has yet to sign off on. He must pay back the campaign money he used for personal  items like a $40,000 Rolex watch, decorating his house, and going on trips.

Last June, Jackson stepped away from his job to receive treatment for  bi-polar disorder. He spent time at the Mayo Clinic, and participated in  outpatient treatment. In November of last year he  was re-elected, and released a brief statement thanking voters."My deep and  sincere thanks to the people of the 2nd Congressional District, I am  humbled and moved by the support shown today," he said after the election. "Once  the doctors approve my return to work, I will continue to be the progressive  fighter you have known for years. My family and I are grateful for your many  heartfelt prayers and kind thoughts."

Within weeks of releasing the statement, the 47-year-old resigned from  Congress. His replacement has not yet been named.
