Well, Tampa Bay, I am sad to report that former Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks baller Eddy Curry, who also won an NBA Championship with the Miami Heat in 2012, lost his Burr Ridge, Illinois, mansion to foreclosure last year. Despite raking in an estimated $70 million over his NBA career, Curry found himself nearly $220,000 behind on his $3.7 million mortgage in 2009. His home was ultimately foreclosed upon in March of last year and was later sold at a sheriff's sale.
Curry bought the home in 2006 for $6.2 million, reports the Chicago Tribune. It's now been listed by its lender for $3.999 million.
The luxurious 9,340-square-foot pad boasts seven bedrooms, nine fireplaces, 11 bathrooms, and handcrafted details throughout. High-end amenities include an elevator, two-story foyer with fireplace, cherry-paneled library, and family room with wet bar. The master suite takes up its own dedicated wing and the lower level features a kitchen, pub-style bar, movie theater and huge wine cellar.
Curry has admitted he doesn't know how he squandered his massive fortune, but it certainly seems to be an all too common occurrence among professional athletes.
