Drake is taking his business to the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. The music publishing giant announced that the rapper has signed on with ASCAP after being with BMI for years.
In a press release, Drake says he decided to make the move from BMI to ASCAP in order to be part of an organization that's "run by music creators." Drake says the company "represents a whole community of kindred spirits." Apparently, the decision was a "natural choice" for him because now he knows his music will be in the "best possible hands."
Meanwhile, ASCAP's Vice President of Rhythm and Soul Membership Nicole George-Middleton says the company is excited to start working with Drake.
Drake joins a long list of big name musicians at ASCAP, including Pharrell, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Jay-Z and Dr. Dre.
